Marlene Jeter is presently a Bible teacher as well as a middle school basketball and volleyball coach. She also works at several basketball camps, tutors, and gives motivational speeches. Marlene has coached on the collegiate, junior college, and high school levels. Although Marlene achieved many athletic successes, she never wanted to be labeled as just an athlete. 


Marlene has earned a Master’s degree in Art Education from Lesley University where she graduated with Honors. She also earned a Master’s degree in Church growth and Evangelism from Liberty University and a B.A. degree in Sociology from the University of Tennessee. Marlene is known as one of the top women basketball players in South Carolina. She was offered a full scholarship to play basketball for the well-known Pat Summitt. She was part of the 1991 National Championship Team and the 1992 SEC Championship at the University of Tennessee. 


Marlene began her basketball career as a seventh grader, and as an eighth grader toward the end of her junior high season got moved up by Coach Anne Long to the varsity squad where she stayed until she graduated. Upon her high school graduation, she was a onetime South Carolina prep basketball 4-A player of the year, was Naismith All-American, five time letter winner, four time All-Region Player, four time All-Area selection, a three time State Champion, as well as four time best offensive player. 


Her high school basketball team was ranked 11th in the nation her junior year. She was South Carolina MVP on her AAU team and was named to the South Stars team which finished third in Virginia. She was one of only two high school students chosen for the South team in the 1989 Olympic Festival. Marlene also was inducted into her High School Hall of Fame in 1999. 


She was one of the most highly-recruited players to come out of the state of South Carolina. Marlene was recruited mainly by SEC and ACC division I schools.


While a standout on the women’s basketball team, Marlene was also a dominant volleyball player and a four time letter winner, four times All-State, four time best setter, four time all-region, and one time best hitter. Marlene mission now is to evangelize to teenagers all around the world.
